Hyo-jin Park is a sound & visual artist, producer, and practitioner of Korean traditional arts who has been continuously exploring “The Art of Connection,” guided by the fundamental question, “How can we connect with each other?”
“The Art of Connection” refers to her artistic approach, which engages with different temporalities, sensibilities, cultures, and ultimately human relationships, transforming them into artistic experiences. As a multidisciplinary creator, she expresses this concept through projects she plans, directs, and produces. interweaving diverse fields and media and disciplines such as sound, imagery, video, movement, text, objects, and installations.Through discovering intersections of different times and senses, she presents new aesthetic possibilities.
Her work is deeply rooted in Korean sensibility and aesthetics, closely tied to the collaborative, flexible, and holistic, multi-layered nature of traditional culture. She began studying gayageum at the age of ten and now serves as a director of the Folk Song Division of the Korean Traditional Music Association, and as a bearer of the National Intangible cultural property Eunyul Mask Dance and Gagok, She practices the integrated traditional performing arts in depth and is among the few Korean artists to master traditional instruments, vocal music, and dance. Simultaneously, she develops experimental projects that cross the boundaries between tradition and modernity, visibility and invisibility, the individual and the collective.
Through this pursuit of continuity and expansion, she devotes herself to recording traces of existence and the ever-changing flow of our era. She finds her greatest joy when meaningful connections are formed with the audience through slow, mindful acts of creation.
Notable works reflecting her artistic vision include ⟪人IN⟫ (2025, Studio Album·Art Film), ⟪About Needs⟫ (2023, Performance·Art Film), ⟪Mouth Sounds⟫ (2023, Solo Exhibition), ⟪Connection⟫ (2023, Group Exhibition·Curation·Performance), and ⟪Solo Project Series 1–6⟫ (2016–2022, 50 Performances).
